Mah Jongg Mavens

'Mah Jongg' is a Chinese word that interprets as, ‘clattering sparrow’, ‘flax sparrow’ or even, ‘hemp bird’. This is due to the fact that when the Mah Jongg tiles are being mixed they create musical sounds suggestive of the noise sparrows squabbling over strewn food crumbs make. Combining strategy and luck, American “Mah Jongg” offers an intellectual challenge, while playing with the beautiful Mah Jongg tiles offers tactile enjoyment. We meet weekly on Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at The Placitas Senior Center. Mah Jongg Mavens began in 2019
